Dodgeball, Ad2 Charlotte-style

August 18th, 2009 Shruti Chandra

Dodgeball

The unmistakable sound of rubber smacking bare skin echoed against the walls of Tremont Music Hall as Ad2 Charlotte members arrived for the first-ever Dodgeball Tourney. As players from the teams Old School, Studiobanks, Thriller, Limerick Studios, Corder Philips, New Way Media, Wray Warriors, Carbonhouse and LGA gathered on the court to hear Tremont staffer and referee Butters announce the rules, it became clear that this wasn’t the schoolyard game from recesses past. This was Ad2 Dodgeball, and this was going to be intense.

Before the balls started flying, each game began with a few minutes of trash-talking between teams (Best one-liner by team Thriller: “I’ve seen better arms on a chair!”). Only New Way Media, Carbonhouse, Wray Warriors and Thriller advanced to the semifinals. Soon it was down to the championships, and team Thriller beat the Warriors to take home the grand prize. Thriller also won the Best Trash-Talk award. Team Old school won the Wicked Style award with their clever use of Afro wigs and knee pads, and LGA won the Team Spirit award. Check out pics of the winners (and LOSERS) on our Facebook page and Twitter feed, http://twitter.com/ad2charlotte

The night was crazy fun for all who participated, including the 5 people who got slammed in the head by a ball. Make sure you duck, dip, dive and dodge your way to the next scheduled Ad2 event and see how Ad2 Charlotte takes life by the balls.
